Insights on Group Projects

Project #2 had different topics and many interesting facts. This project was based on important topics of communication of groups and also value information about different mental health. It was very informative because some of us who did not about certain health disabilities were informed.

Group 1: Learning disabilities

Group 1 spoke about Dyslexia, ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder), and NVLD (Nonverbal Learning Disorder).

Dyslexia is a common learning difficulty that primarily affects skills involved in reading and spelling. It is a specific learning disability with neurological origins and often persists throughout a person's lifetime. Dyslexia is thought to be caused by both genetic and environmental factors. It often runs in families. However, Dyslexia does not affect overall intelligence. Many people with dyslexia are highly creative and excel in areas outside of reading and writing. Understanding dyslexia is essential for providing the right support and interventions to help individuals with this condition achieve their full potential.

ADHD is a neuro-developmental disorder that commonly manifests in childhood and often persists into adulthood. It is characterized by symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. ADHD isn’t an indicator of intelligence or capability. It effects on the experience of difficulty in certain areas, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find your niche and achieve success. The key is to discover strengths and capitalize on them. Understanding ADHD and implementing effective strategies for management can help individuals with ADHD thrive in various aspects of their lives.

NVLD is a condition that can affect a person's ability to learn from nonverbal information. The difficulties in visual-spatial processing and a gap between verbal and nonverbal intelligence. Those with NVLD often have trouble with some of the following: organization, attention, executive functioning, nonverbal communication, and motor skills.

Group 2: Autism Spectrum Disorder

Autism is a complex condition that affects communication, behavior, and social interactions.Individuals with autism often suffer from numerous co-morbid medical conditions which may include: allergies, asthma, epilepsy, digestive disorders, persistent viral infections, feeding disorders, sensory integration dysfunction, sleeping disorders, and more. Group 2 mentioned all the resources and facts that can help those with autism. Raising awareness and helping others and understanding them. I like how informative they were when discussing this topic and the way they presented it.

Group 3: Anxiety Disorders

In group 3 we spoke about the different types of anxiety which were Separation Anxiety Disorder (SAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Social Anxiety. We each explained the importance of each disorder of how their are multiple types of anxiety and what resources can help those who may have it. I really liked the information we were all able to gather to help support are project. There are many things a lot of us weren't aware of.

Conclusion

This project was very interesting and had to be by far the best ones. Everyone did an amazing job by explaining the different types of disabilities and how to may help those who are in need of it and what to look out for and what can be resourceful. It had a lot of knowledge and every well explained especially with those having videos and images to back up what was be mentioned.
