May 29th, 2024 Insights on Group Projects Project #2 had different topics and many interesting facts. This project was based on important topics of communication of groups and also value information about different mental health. It was very informative because some of us who did not about certain health disabilities were informed.  Group 1: Learning disabilities Group 1 spoke about Dyslexia, ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder), and NVLD (Nonverbal Learning Disorder).  Dyslexia is a common learning difficulty that primarily affects skills involved in reading and spelling. It is a specific learning disability with neurological origins and often persists throughout a person's lifetime. Dyslexia is thought to be caused by both genetic and environmental factors. It often runs in families. However, Dyslexia does not affect overall intelligence. Many people with dyslexia are highly creative and excel in areas outside of reading and writing. Understan...

Blog Post 2   Dear diary, I just finished with my second group project that I had for my speech class. I r eally did enjoy doing this project and I really did enjoy the other presentations that I got a chance to see. We had to do 2 presentations a bout two different topics. Which the first one we were explaining a chapter from our book. Each and every person got a different chapter and they had to go in depth with that chapter. I really did enjoy this because it made me understand a little bit more, especially on the chapter I was presenting and going to present. The second presentation I really did enjoy because we spoke, my group especially we spoke about anxiety and anxiety is something that I do struggle with and that so many people struggle with. The process for this presentation especially for me I had to read. A chapter and went in depth with it and I did a slide. Explaining about Organizing a Speech I am really glad that I chose this topic and chapter...

Understanding Neurodiversity and Mental Health: Insights from Group Presentations In recent educational sessions, we delved deeply into various neurodiverse conditions and mental health disorders through the comprehensive presentations by three groups. Each group focused on a specific set of conditions, providing valuable insights into their characteristics, challenges, and potential coping strategies. Here’s a summary of what I learned from these presentations, which covered dyslexia, ADHD, NVLD, Autism, ASD, Anxiety, SAD, OCD, and Social Anxiety. Group 1: Dyslexia, ADHD, and NVLD Dyslexia:  Dyslexia is a learning disorder characterized by difficulties with accurate and/or fluent word recognition, poor spelling, and decoding abilities. The presentation highlighted that dyslexia is not a sign of low intelligence or laziness. People with dyslexia often have average or above-average intelligence, but they process written and spoken language differently. Key Points Learned: Neu...

Reflecting on each other’s presentations:     Group 1: Specific Learning Disabilities: Group 1's presentation first addressed their Study Guide which talked about topics such as communication, the perception we have of others and ourselves, how important and complicated listening is, and the importance of relationships and communication in our daily lives. Then, the second part of their presentation consisted of different learning disabilities such as dyslexia or ADHD, in which they delved into what they are, their causes, and how their research has evolved over time.   Regarding the Study Guide, one of the topics they talked about that I found very interesting was Listening. Not only did they explain the importance of being a good listener and how important it is to be a good listener in our daily lives, but they also explained the difficulties that can be encountered when it comes to being able to do it effectively. In addition, they introduced different steps an...
